Lived Experience, Co-Design & Advisory Consultation

  • Federal Government: 


Lived Experience Council  – Appointed by Hon. Minister Justine Elliot MP (Dec 2023 - Present)

Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commission (DFSVC) - Lived Experience Council 

Duties: Providing lived experience and intersectional insights as a survivor of intimate partner, sexual, family and intergenerational violence. Using my personal and professional experience within violence prevention and survivor-advocacy to create national change within violence, especially gendered-based violence and towards marginalised groups including LGBTIQA+, trans, disabled and people of colour communities.  The DFSVC is focused on practical and meaningful ways to measure progress towards the objectives outlined in the National Plan  to End Violence against Women and Children.


IncludeAbility (Equality @ Work) Ambassador (Dec 2024 - Present)  

Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) -  Disability Rights Team 

Duties: Provide expert advice, lived experience consultation and specialised feedback regarding comprehensive projects and goals within the IncludeAbility (Equality @ Work) Project designed to fulfil the human right of people with disability to work and obtain employment on an equal basis with others. The role of an Ambassador is to advocate for equality in employment for people with disability. This involves promoting the Project and engaging with the Employer Network, the Pilot Employment Programs and other Project activities.


Australia's Disability Strategy (ADS) - Appointed by Hon. Rishworth MP (April 2024 - Present)

Victorian Core Member - & Housing Working Group (HWG) - Department of So)cial )(DSS) 

Duties: Provide feedback to implement Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-2031 which aims to uplift all Australians to ensure people with disability can participate as equal members of society.

 Core Members must be recognised for their passion and interest in genuine championing of individual and community issues faced by the disability community. They are to be a person with disability representing one or more of the following cohorts: marginalised gender, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)  /culturally and racially marginalised (CARM), young person,  LGBTIQA+/Queer and First Nations. 


  • State Government:

Victorian Disability Advisory Council (VDAC) 

Duties: Councillor representing young, disabled, LGBTIQA+, Trans and Autistic/ADHD (neurodivergent) people of colour and culturally and linguistically diverse people from migrant and/or refugee backgrounds.


LGBTIQ+ Disability Inclusion Expert Advisory Group (Disability Inclusion EAG) 

Department of Families, Fairness and Housing - Fairer Victoria, Engagement and Coordination

Duties: Input and implement expertise on projects, campaigns, policy and protocol as a subject matter expert. 


Victorian LGBTIQA+ Taskforce  (Justice Working Group) – Appointed by Hon. Minister Harriet Shing

Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH)

Duties: Provide professional and personal lived experience consultation feedback and insights on the Victorian Government’s delivery of the 10 year LGBTIQA+ Strategy: Pride in Our Future to improve LGBTIQA+ outcomes professionally within leadership opportunities, health and wellbeing outcomes and inclusion etc.


  • Local Government: 

City of Melbourne – Disability Advisory Committee 

Duties: Provision of strategic, diverse and lived experience advice on policy and practice issues related to disability and inclusion for The City of Melbourne, and it's municipality.


  • Miscellaneous: 

Advisory Panel for PhD researcher for non-binary people’s lack of inclusion in family violence policy and service provision at the University of New South Wales 

Duties: Provide expert matter lived experience insights as victim-survivor-advocate and activist into violence, family and domesic violence for non-binary people.

National Autism Strategy – Economic Inclusion Committee /Working Group 

Department of Social Services (DSS) / Minister for Social Services 

Duties: Autistic, ADHD & c-PTSD (multply-neurodivergent) professional and lived experience subject matter expert providing practical, expert, research, reviewing, resource development, tools, communications and professional advice to inform the National Autism Strategy with a focus on Economic Inclusion to reduce barriers, stigmas and improve the economic inclusion and employment for all Autistic Australians nationally. Contribute of time, skills, experience and expertise to this significant body of work to improve life outcomes for Autistic Australians, specifically relating to employment and economic inclusion.


Advisor: Changing the Landscape - Prevention Practitioners Community of Practice (12 months)

Our Watch - leaders in the prevention of violence against women & their children

Duties: Input, provide expert and lived experience guidance and expertise as a violence prevention and survivor-advocacy professional, subject matter expert with diverse experience as a disabled, neurodivergent, gender diverse, trans non-binary, LGBTIQA+ person of colour who has experienced intimate-partner and family violence (+ its aftermath/effects) through my life, to advance real social and economic inclusion.


Mental Health Carers' Advisory Council   (2+ years) 

Royal Children's Hospital 

Duties: Provided lived and profession experience to the RCH patient, community and network to create change and transformation to the RCH Lived Experience Strategy, Autism assessment in community teams, Case management pilot in community teams. New model of care, Patient Intake project, Goal setting template, Redesign of the recovery plan and discharge letter, Informing carers when first attending RCH MH, Communication needs for the 0-11 age transition

and the New Mental Health and Wellbeing Act.


Victorian State Library Network – Pierre Gorman Scholarship (12 months) 

Scholarship Ambassador, Advisory Panellist and Grant 

(Scholarship/Grant Ideation Judge)

 

Disability Justice Australia (DJA) (3.5 years - July 2018- Dec 2022) 

Board Director & Company Secretary + 1 term as Treasurer – and member of 3 executive sub-committees (Social Enterprise Development, Member Engagement and Aboriginal Reconciliation Plan)

 

Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (The Commission) (1.5 years) 

National Consumer Representative – Opioid Analgesic Stewardship Working Group

Duties:  Use both my professional expertise as a qualified health promotion, policy professional and community development practitioner, and personal lived experience of chronic pain, illness and disability to represent numerous community groups as the only and inaugural national chronic pain representative.
